Man, remember how popular they used to be?

Back in the 80s I drove a 1976 Oldsmobile (RIP) Cutlass Supreme with the "Landau" roof...

The other day I saw a newer car with one of those faux convertible tops (remember?) Ugggh...
What were they thinking?

That top is just butt ugly, but depending on the car, some look better with a vinyl top than no vinyl
For instance, the 66 Tbird town landau.
Click on my user name and take a look at perhaps the best roof design of any car as far as style goes.
The blind spot takes some getting use too, but for vinyl, I don't think there is a better looking top.

Bob.

There was vinyl roof and fake “convertibles”. They were not the same thing.

On big luxury cars, I like vinyl roofs very much.

Such as this 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood Seventy-Five Limousine...

This is the truth! Living in the desert Southwest, they don't last long.

I love vinyl roofs. Last ones I remember was my dads '78 4 door Monaco, metallic green with tan vinyl roof & interior, and my own '77 Grand Prix, a light metallic blue with white vinyl top & interior that was my high school voc tech auto mechanics project. Bought it for $100 in '83 with a blown motor.
