Hi everyone. I have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra with about 202,000 miles.
This morning as I was driving, i noticed the " Door Ajar" indicator light went on as I was driving. Get flickering on and off randomly, no set pattern. So after a few miles i pulled over obviously and checked all the doors. Proceeded to continue my trip.
Ten minutes in, same thing began happening.
I also noticed when I rolled down my window, it stopped. But only my window ( front drivers side window).
Sounds like an issue with the door switch. Not about your problem directly, but the post at the bottom shows you the switch pad, and I would start there.
It's either your door switch or related wiring closing to ground intermittently. I'm not familiar with your vehicle, you either have a seperate jamb switch, or (most likely) it's built into the door lock actuator/lock assembly.
It may very well be just a worn and tired switch. Or else the wiring is chafing to a ground. Rolling your window down may have disturbed the wiring enough to intterupt the ground path, or else, it's just coincidental that the ajar light went out. Keep in mind, the fault can be in any door. Intermittents can be tough to locate.
Well , I played around with it. There's a rubber thing attached to the frame if the car that when I press it in, the door open indicator goes off. Now I just need to find the part or part number
