I am not sure what GM is trying to accomplish by their nonstop it-is-not-a- Buick commercial. Seems like they are doing the opposite by bringing out old women to vouch for them. Trying to show that it once was for old people is enough to turn off the young, and the not so young.

GM knows what it's doing they pay these advertising agency's millions to sell their product and Buick sales are up so the commercial is working.
Buick delivered nearly 1.2 million vehicles in China, the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2014, marking the second consecutive sales record for the most Buicks sold in a single year in the brand’s 111-year history.

And yet Buick continues to handily outsell its competition, so I guess the marketing message isn't lost on those who aren't easily confused.
My family has driven Buicks of one kind or another since 1953. They have all been great cars. I currently have an 08 Saturn Aura XR that looks and drives exactly like a Buick.
no opinion on Buick- but do you need an SUV/Wagon? AWD Sedans are definitely a thing and perform well. Have had a Volvo S80 AWD for years and love it. That one's pricey, but if you don't need the extra space you may be able to get something cheaper and smaller but still excellent by going for a sedan.
American reliability in the past were condensed into specific models that happened to be unattractive to people that weren't old or cops or doing "work" that requires trucks/vans. Town Cars/Grand Marquis/Crown Vic. Buicks with the 3.8L or the Roadmaster with the LT1.
The rest of American reliability was in big trucks, which people think of hillbillies or Hispanics who do not satisfy the intellectual refinement to be a part of proper bourgeois society. Even those vehicles are major money makers, the crowd has no clue why vans and trucks are even sold.
