I am trying to purchase a Chevy truck from some family friends in Canada. They will be the ones bringing it across the border to me.

I have been finding very conflicting information on whether or not I need a broker.

We have all the documents and forms, already know about the vehicle needing to conform to Us standards (it was made in the USA).

I just need to know, do we have to hire a broker for them to drive it across the border to me?

It used to be emissions standards.
Different states had different standards.
California being the most stringent.
So it could depend on year and your state.
So best check that out first.

Not sure if you have to change the dashboard module. Kilometers to MPH. I don't have a clue.
Maybe a call or visit to your local DMV.

My grandson drives a Honda that was sold new in Canada. It was bought from a friend in Vancouver, registered in WA and now lives in PA. It still has the KPH speedo which has miles in small numbers the opposite of speedos on US cars. Makes you squint sometimes.

I was not present when it was purchased, so I missed the paperwork process.
