Interstate, Duralast, Autocraft, Valuecraft, Sears Die Hard, Everlast, more.
Everlast reviews say they do not last, and once you get a warranty on the one you bought, when the replacement dies the warranty no longer applies to the 2nd one.
Valuecraft has one year warranty.
Advanced Auto says the days of 5 year warranties is long gone.
We read a review that the Die Hard was one of the worst batteries you can get.
The one we bought in 2006 was still ticking early this year so that's over 8 years.
With all the choices which one is best, worst, why, etc.
Advanced said people need 600 cranking amps but many of the auto batteries they sell are only 525.
We are leaning toward a used one if the best warranty we can get is 1-2-3 years.
My local auto parts store has "seconds". Usually there might be tab or something broke off, no label on it. They have been lasting me about 5 or 6 years, can't complain for $30.

We'll take a couple of those.
Any national store name?

I replaced my battery last year with a Advanced Auto gold. 3 year free replacement after that 2 year pro rated warranty.
I worked with exide as a customer in another life. You get what you pay for so, the model you buy clearly indicates the value you should receive. Doe-hards are good, auto parts store brands are okay.
A LOT of the life is predicated on how you treat it. Do you turn the car on with every accessory on? If so, cut a year or more off your battery.....if you live in extreme heat, it a year or more.....if you have a lead acid type that can be topped and trickle charged with distiller water and don't? Cut a year or more...
Bottom line? A decent battery (die hard gold for example) should give you 6 plus years with ample care (trickle charge it once a year, twice if in severe climates).....anything that gives ou less than 4 years is simply crap. Period.
Spend the extra 30-40% and get twice the life....give or take.....also, keep your terminals clean.....if you ever get stuck with a weak one and need a jump and have considerable build up, pour a can coke over the terminals and wait 10 mins...the acid in coke will eat corrosion and will give you a solid contact for the jump and get your where you need to go or until you can charge or replace the battery. If you keep it, clean the terminals. It matters. I think lemon juice and Budweiser works as well.....you should see what bud does to a lap seem on a single ply rubber roof.....

Johnson controls makes the batteries for die hard and advance auto and many other store brand batteries.
Keep in mind there are basically only three battery manufacturers: Delphi, Exide and Johnson Controls
So whatever label you see at Walmart, Advance Auto, Sears, etc come from one of these companies
Thank you.
It appears that most don't know this.
