Question: What techniques to deal with too bright oncoming car's headlights?

Answer: As the oncoming vehicle with the too-bright headlights is nearly passing by me (in the opposite direction), I shoot out their headlights! Problem solved.

(Only kidding!!!)

My lovely bride's 2007 Cadillac has the factory installed lights and the dealer checked them twice for proper adjustment, but we still get folks flashing their high beams at us almost every time we drive in the early morning or in the late evening. Most of the time I just ignore them, but it does get pretty wearisome.

As far as I remember, that's what is instructed in the driver's license manual. It works for me, too.

A quick flash isn't a problem and won't blind someone!

It actually helps and as someone else noted, if enough do it and he doesn't have his highbeams on, he may just check something out. I know it took me a bit of having people flash me before I realized I needed to adjust the lights on my leveled truck. Haven't been flashed since!

IMO, looking away does nothing but takes your eyes off the road in front of you. It sucks when someone uses his highbeams in traffic and while approaching other cars but unfortunately it is something you'll have to deal with. I will continue to give a quick flash as I would say 90% of the time (if it is actual highbeams) they turn them down.

Unfortunately now there are all these blinding blue lights (not the flashing ones) and aftermarket headlights that I think the only purpose is to blind oncomming traffic.

You're not looking entirely away. You just have a right side bias vs staring into oncoming traffic on the left.

It's possible they took your money without actually checking the lights. To be sure, check them yourself. It's pretty easy.

I used to flash my high beams, but no more. There's way too many nut cases on the roads. I just briefly turn my head and then go on my merry way.

Sometimes they may flash their highbeams letting you know that they don't have their highs on so perhaps they are blinding you due to one of many other reasons.
I drive an SUV with LED headlights. They are freaking bright. I have automatic high beams as well. They turn off and on all on their own. LED headlights are incredibly bright. Many new vehicles have them.

...Reasons such as that their regular lights are worse than some people's high-beams!
And those morons don't think about anybody but themselves
