Actually it's illegal because a Law Enforcement Officer can't see in your vehicle to see if you are holding a weapon on him as he's standing next to your car, waiting for you to roll your window down.

Debadging is also done for stealth. Remember BMW 1502 1602, 2002 and 2002tii all looked exactly the same. You never knew never knew what you were up against.

Yeah, rather than being ashamed of what you own I see it most popular on performance trims hiding what they have for a "sleeper" style. Manufacturers love to throw "turbo" "sport" "limited" "type s/r" etc on.

Too much bullspit is illegal to do to cars nowadays, makes me happy I live in Kentucky, where you can drive the most tricked out, the most ragediest, and inbetween.

yeah, I've seen many Orollas, and Corlas in my day, sometimes individual letters just fall off.

Back when American cars were really looked down upon (10+ years ago), I always wondered why they didn't just remove the brand badging in the grills - - as it became so much about image that many people would not even consider anything but an import. We are back to where many younger people don't automatically make the distinction.

1. Had a POS 81 Ford F150. Someone stole the plastic "F150" badge off the side of the truck. Only drove that POS for a year.

2. I saw a car a few years ago that I swore was an Oldsmobile. That was the ****tiest Lexus I've ever seen. I swear, those people really thought that they were fooling some into thinking they had a Lexus.

3. Some you can tell were removed when the car had been in a wreck. Saw one the other day. Deck lid was way off from the side panels.

I have seen several cars that people have put badges on for other cars.
