Mobil 1 Extended Performance

I agree! It's a really good product. I would say Mobil 1 Extended Performance is likely in "The Top 10" of motor oils for general automotive use...

Default Synthetics are a great choice

As a former expediter running an E-350 7.3 diesel I can attest to the fact that synthetic oil is a terrific choice. I averaged 3000 lbs in the back of the van with an average speed of 70 mph. I changed the oil every 15,000 miles and realized approx. an increase of 3-5 mpg over the conventional oil. Furthermore, I read a testimony of a driver in Tenn. who pulled a 5th wheel with a Ford truck and after changing his transmission to ATF by Amsoil dropped his transmission temp from 270 degrees to 215 degrees. Extended drain intervals can be realized by taking advantage of the oil analysis programs available as well.

Synthetics are a good choice for any mechanically sound engines or transmissions. I have been using them for well over 15 years.

The 3,000 mile oil change went out the window some years ago. I have sepnt lots of money and time on real world oil tests. You oil can be Black as hell and still perfectly good. Oil drain intervals depend a lot on the type of driving you do. I have run 7500 miles on Dino oil all the time in my 04 duramax diesel and 10,000 with synthetic. I have had oil samples sent in every 1500 miles and they all came back fine. The oil was black as black can be but it was still good. If you dont believe me next time you change your oil get it tested. You will be surprised. Just because your oil is discolored does not mean it is bad. The new oils these days take a lot more abuse than the oils out Grandfathers or even our Fathers use.

As for Synthetic If you live in a cold or hot I would run it. As for places that are not exposed to the eliments. I would use it there as well. Amsoil makes some great products. I have been running them for years now and have never had a complaint.

I have used both, depending on my budget at the time. I have heard that synthetics are less likely to form sludge over the long run, anybody have any opinions on that?
