I have a thread in the Toyota thread without much response. Are there a few vehicles that were about that size with 4 wheel drive and a v6? What was the reason they eliminated the v6? It only had a 1mile less mpg. Tons of power. My wife will be needing a car to replace our suburban. My last kid leaves for college in the fall and the suburban will need to go, regretfully.

I know someone with a Nissan Rogue and that's comparable to a Rav4, though the Rogue is only available with a 4 cylinder motor, it is all wheel drive. I'm afraid the days of putting V6's in such small vehicles are over.

The Ford Escape is also comparable. The Chevrolet Equniox/GMC Terrain look a little bigger than a Rav4, but they are available with V6 engines and with all wheel drive.

I have a 2014 Ford Escape Titanium with the 2.0 Turbo engine.

The car is a little rocket ship. So far I have had not 1 problem.

I think it had similar power to old the Rav4 V6

The Jeep Cherokee v6 is the closest thing out there I believe.

But I'd rather just pick up a used 2012 RAV4 v6.

The 3.6 in the Equinox should run like a raped ape. It's not much larger than a RAV4, if it is larger at all.

Don't expect low end grunt like you get from the Suburban's V8 though.

What about an Acura RDX? 4 inches longer and 1 wider.

That's both slower and much more thirsty than the v6 Rav.

It was really overpowered for it's purpose and market audience...and as turbo technology is improving most small engines are going with that for their "premium" versions.
My wife has the V6 RAV4, it is surprisingly fast for the type vehicle it is, I mean it's not considered a sport or even sporty car. When we bought it 5 years ago the dealer asked "why do you need the v6 for, that's a rocket"...it was the same engine they were putting in large Toyota sedans. And indeed, thanks to the efficient transmission it didn't drink that much more gas the 4 cylinder versions.
