What the hell happened to inflate these prices?

I even recall when it was no charge.
Same price I paid 2 weeks ago in Mass, as I was heading back to Florida. It was a Speedway Gas Station. Complete ripoff. The pump didn't even work and I got no refund. I headed over to a nearby Firestone, and they put air in for free.

I had a slow leak in two tires and finally I picked up one of these. It was about $17 and works well enough. The built in pressure gauge isn't very accurate. Overall, a lifesaver.

Discount Tire will check them and fill them for you for nothing. They hope on the job too so you don't wait even when they are busy. If you have a leak they plug it if its in the right areas to safely do so. Again no charge.

I love CA! Air is free, as is water, if you buy gas.

I just use a portable $10 air pump and fill up in the comfort of my garage. No need to carry quarters or deal with busted gas station pumps. Bonus: filling the tires first thing in the morning means I get true cold PSI values.

I once asked the same question. I was told if you think air is free try inflating the tire by your mouth. Around here, Wawa has free air pump.

You are old because I remember that and I'm old. Fill the tank, wash the windshield, check the oil and tire pressure. It was Mr. Harold Snyder's Esso station.

About ten years ago a young guy, attendant, at a gas station offered to help with those things. I needed some air in a tire. At the end of the conversation he told me that had somewhere between 50 and 100 dollars in tips in his pocket at the end of his shift.

I call BS. I paid $4 for air in NYC just outside of greenwhich village. Drove around for 40 minutes in a rented car on very low tire pressure trying to find that damn place.
