It wasn't quite that dramatic, at the time we had 2 SUVs and 1 sports car already, we just went to 1 SUV and 2 sports cars for a bit.
What was the other sports car? My wife drives a Miata, so when my Corvette crapped out on me and I replaced it with a Mazda3, I can still drive "somewhat" of a sports car with her Miata.
My mom had the biggest change. In the 70s during the gas crunch she had a Datsun B210 coupe and in the late 70s switched to a 1978 Chrysler Córdoba because she liked the Recardo Montalban commercials. From a tiny 1.something liter engine to around 400 something cubic inch engine.

It was a Porsche Boxster S. Fun car, but got rid of it shortly after getting the turbo, seemed a bit redundant. I do miss having a convertible though.

Now that I'm thinking about it, our modes have transportation have varied from Nissan 300ZX back in the 80's to pickups, horse and buggy, goat cart, luxury cars like Volvos and Mercedes, SUV's to skids steer, tractors, a real honest to god dump truck that my DH came home with from an auction (used the heck out of it too) and taking off tomorrow in a 38 foot monster RV. It's been a fun time!
Back in the day I traded a 390 67 Ranchero for a new 72 Datsun pickup, what a gutless pile that thing turned out to be.
