No body damage but the engine is shot? What sort of accident was it?
This whole story doesn't add up to anyone who knows cars. Ok, so you ran off the road, how did that ruin the engine and seize it ? Only thing I can imagine is that you continued to drive it after the pan was holed. Didn't you notice the red oil light on the dash ?

Sounds like someone tried to get out of the ditch, and couldn't. Over heated the engine trying, and then probably had to be towed out. I would go with new, be very careful of used parts.
Got burned on a salvage engine years ago, I'd never do it again. Unless you see it sitting in the car it came from, you have no idea what the mileage really is.

My thoughts exactly, especially if the rest of the car is fine.
I have a 2013 ford explorer limited (3.5 L w/out turbo, has 8 in the vin #) I ran off the road to avoid a dear and ran into the ditch, no body damage, vehicle is pristine. I purchased the vehicle back from Geico. I need a new engine in the vehicle due to the oil leaking out and engine seized up. Does anyone know a good reputable mechanic in VA that is qualified to replace such a new engine? Other than the dealer that is.
I'm back and forth between a brand new engine from Ford for 3,800 or a used engine from a salvage dealer with 24k miles for 1,800. I'm leaning toward the new engine as the vehicle is in pristine condition and fully loaded with all the extras.
Any advise would greatly be appreciated, Thanks everyone in advance
