Rented a Dodge Journey yesterday and drove it from JFK to Philly. It was a great ride. It's not the best looking SUV on the road but it's very smooth, quiet and very snappy. I don't know what's under the hood but it sure pulled like a 6. Not bad for something that gets very little press.

I have never let "reviews" determine my purchases. I owned two Dakotas over a 15 year period and couldn't be happier. They were routinely panned.

Well then take it from someone who works on cars for a living...(over 37 yrs) .Dodge Journey, Jeep Patriot and Compass...these things are junk. See them all the time still under warranty falling apart. You can drive one around the block and just feel and hear how cheap they are. We have a Journey in the shop right now that is going back to Dodge for warranty repairs. Power window master switch inop, a/c vents broken, oil leak, rear wiper inop. Under 31k miles. Throwaway car.

They're very inexpensive for a CUV with a V6.

It's funny... I see "I just want a cheap, basic car with a lot of motor" all the time.
Then when someone actually makes it everyone bags on it... it's crap, doesn't have this, doesn't do that.

Whatever. If the OP likes it, that's great! I wouldn't buy one myself, but I can see the attraction of such a vehicle.

I just saw one of those "Ten Worst Cars" lists the other day, and the Journey was one of them.

My friend recently bought a Journey and he's very happy with it.

I have a Jeep, and Jeeps are frequently panned. But I see many old ones out on the road, and on the trail. Mine has the Diesel engine and I want 500,000 miles out of her. Car reviews can be political.

I don't either.

I have owned Chrysler products since the 1950's.

Quality has been very sporadic. The slant 6 engine and the 318 engine went on forever.

Yet rust on Chrysler now Fiat has always been an issue.

All manufactures sub out most all of the components now and Chrysler/Fiat seems to get the worst of all.

All is a complex stew of engineering design and manufacturing.

Today, I avoid anything that Fiat makes.

CEO Sergio Marchonne has been attempting to sell Fiat/Chrysler for years now. With no takers.

This! I want the world - for low bid. Champagne taste on a Pabst budget.

Probably the 4-banger. Yuck.
Having almost 300hp should keep the GT off any such lists, build quality be damned.
