Does anyone know the numbers of their trade in and what the dealer was wanting to sell the car for? In one post a fellow said he got $4,000 and the dealer had the car on his lot at a $10,000 sale price. Not that the dealer got that for it.

Unless you know some one at the dealership or the person who bought the car, there is no way to know what it sold for.

I traded a car for $5000 and it was like pulling teeth to get that much. The dealer listed it the next day for $6500

It going to vary on model, location, condition, and even color. The dealer has expenses to cover and it then looking to make a profit. I always figure that average trade in value is 15-20% less than retail.

Asking price and the price a car will sell for is often 10-20% different. The difference you quoted, 4K to 10K, is larger than expected and I would have guessed 4K to 6K be a normal difference.
