China is one of the biggest producers of coal, so it's only natural they want to ramp up usage of electricity. The people who think they'll be powering their EVs with wind and solar are dreaming. Pollution in China may actually get worse, not better.

China is most certainly not doing it to control pollution.

I envision a future where all vehicles run on electric rails. You own not a vehicle with a complete engine and batteries, but a pod that self-navigates via installed rails. Long distance travel is accomplished by loading the pods onto a larger carrier ala train cargo cars, where the pod attaches along a corridor that gives you access to bathroom facilities and the equivalent of dining cars. And, in fact, individual ownership would be on the decline - you would schedule or call for pods on an as-needed basis, thus negating the need for garage or parking space.

Doubt I'll see it in my lifetime, but it would certainly make much better sense. "Public transportation" wouldn't be so slow and impractical if you had a congo line of pods that you just hook up to to get where you're going instead of a bus that has to stop at every corner to take on passengers.

No one in the world produces more waste and pollution than the United States. We shouldn't be poo poo'ing others' initiatives to help the environment, esp since Mr. Pumpkin himself doesn't believe in saving the environment either.

I know self hate runs unjustifiably deep for some people, but not one America city is in the top 500 most polluted cities list. China however dominates almost half of the list.

Last I checked, only China shut down during its own Olympic games.

Also, I don't know any US rivers looking like this:

(That's India, sweetheart.)

Then again, the EPA failed at it's job, so Emperor Trump should shut it down, according to you.

The USA is rated 16th in the world per capita for pollution. China and India are at the top of the list for creating pollution.

Sorry but you are misinformed, be open to listen to others as well besides the fake media.

USA has had some of most stringent environmental constrains for automotive (hence why we cannot get many of the powerful engines available in Europe).
The Paris accord is penalizing the nuns for wearing provocative clothing while the cheerleaders & pole dancers are getting paid from these penalties.

I guess all the fracking, Houston port, Flint, the Colorado river, Mississippi, Ohio River, or even the Pacific ocean escape people's minds. Data from 2015 show that for overall output of greenhouse gases, China is #1 and the US is #2. For emissions per capita in tons, the US is #1 by more than double of China. Many parts of China are dirty af. That's the truth. It's a sad combination of trying to play catch-up in terms of development compared to Western countries and readily accepting other counties' trash and battery waste (as well as it's own from electronics manufacturing) for monetary again to a greedy gov't that for the most part doesn't care too much about the environment.
