$500 over invoice a good deal? (insurance, tire, best, buy)

I hate car shopping!! 😒😒 I'm in the market for a new car, and have a source where I might be able to get $500 over invoice. Is that considered a good deal, or is that a meaningless expression. If offered that, is there any additional negotiation that should take place? Thx
Depends on the car and your location. Many can be had under invoice, some go for closer to sticker. But if that’s their initial offer certainly some negotiation to be done.
More important to pay attention to out the door cost after all fees and anything else they try to sneak in there like junk 3rd party warranties, paint protection, etc.
Not in my opinion, car dealerships normal get "hidden money" from car manufactures for selling cars. I paid 600 under invoice for the last car I bought, but I had to buy it from a dealer 2 hrs away from my house because the dealers local to me could not touch the price.
There could be all sorts of factory to dealer cash they're holding on to.
With the new car I just got... we used a combination of dealer discount, FTD cash and captive low interest rate to make the deal. We ran all the numbers doing various combinations and I finally settled on the best deal for me. The price of the car was several 1000's below invoice in all scenarios.
There are multiple car shopping services out there if it is something that you really hate. A quick google search will give you some options. The couple of hundred dollars you spend on them will likely be made up in the deal and lack of headache if you really hate it.
You do know that invoice is just a number.. And it is different in every state and within areas of each state.. AND dealerships do not actually own the new cars...
Where are you folks getting information these days about dealer costs? It used to be all over the internet, but I could not find anything the last time we bought a new car. We wanted a specific make/model with specific/rare options, so I felt rather unarmed in my negotiations. I'm quite sure we left a significant amount on the the table when we drove away.
A dealer is always going to tell you they are selling close to invoice. Then they will hit you with all kinds of other fees. Tell them a price you are willing to walk out the door at and let them figure out the numbers. They will try to sell you everything from tire insurance to GAP insurance which will increase the price as much as 20%-30%.
