What would you say is the silliest thing manufacturers have put on a car to make our life easier. OEM items only. 40" wheels and other crazy after market items don't count. My vote goes to wipers that come on automatically when it rains. Are we too stupid to know its raining or to lazy to turn the switch?

Personally I think any big electronics item that is "built in" is kind stupid. Because the electronics technology for the VCRs, DVRs, GPSs gets updated so quickly. You are better of just going into the electronics store and getting yourself a GPS (instead of paying big bucks for the factory installed one that will be obsolete in 3 years).

The automatic parallel parking on the Lexus LS. From what I hear they don't even work half of the time.

Realistically, the nav systems. Do we really need them? Just another thing to distract us from the real job of driving. Rain sensing wipers are another. If it starts to rain, how hard is it to just reach the control and turn them on? Please.

Nav systems are the best thing since sliced bread! i'm not afraid to travel anywhere with one, they have helped me tremendously in my travels to different states, remember the days of stopping and asking people for directions? uh uh i think it's down there. http://bestsmileys.com/clueless/1.gif (broken link) http://bestsmileys.com/clueless/4.gif (broken link)

GPSes rock! I doubted them also. But we borrowed one and went on vacation. That thing saved us from getting lost SO many times!
