No body with a lick of sense would ever take a rig to 70 mph in low range four wheel drive. There would never be a need to and you'll just gobble gas and wear out drive components. It would be just plain dumb whether it be by accident or on purpose.

It was by accident. Agreed on the stupidity. I had a young girls car in my shop for repairs. While her car was off the road, her Dad let her use his truck. Well, it was wintertime, and was snowing heavily. She decided to use 4X4 on the expressway, not a bad choice given the conditions.

So, we get a phone call at the shop; could we please come look at the truck, something was wrong with it, stranded by the side of the road. She had pressed the 4lo button instead of 4hi. Screaming right along, until the number 1 rod decided to see what life was like outside of the engine block.

We got that job, too. New engine for Dad.

My son rolled my truck while I was "teaching" him how to drive with me in it ! I should have paid for drivers school I guess. We were on a ski trip and had to drive 400 miles back home without a windshield, we had to wear our ski goggles for the drive home. What a fun ski trip !
