IMO, run flat tires are a better option than a donut spare tire. They have a longer range and can be driven at a higher speed. The donut spares are just a poor short term solution and would not get you very far at all on the highway during a road trip.
Donuts aren't meant for you to finish your trip. They're there to get you to the first available repair shop.
Not all junkyards have parts for a Miata there’s not allot out there.
get one from a dealer if you have to, check out ebay and Amazon, i'm sure you've got spares shops in your country.
driving without a spare is asking for trouble.
My 4 year old Tucson came with a spare tire, jack and a tool bag. Have not needed to use it yet, but glad to know that it is there in the trunk. It has the yellow warning sticker on it that says "max speed 80 kph / 50 mph", which is fine.
I have, however, never bought/ used 'fix-a-flat'. Will explore that now to see if it is worth the investment.
I had a Miata that I picked up used. I was surprised to learn to save weight they did not include a spare tire with my touring model. Made me nervous but never had a flat.
I bought a Pacifica last year and much to my surprise while looking for the spare I found out it did not have one either from the factory. And I can order one, for about $500? Are you kidding???
Makes me wonder what would happen if I were out a ways traveling and called for support. What other option would they have but to tow me?
I am thinking I will pick up a used tire and rim somewhere just in case.
This is an issue of cost cutting by manufacturers imho on your average car any weight savings is just an excuse to make it seem acceptable to consumers.

What about the idiots that actually buy a new car without a spare.

It’s not weight savings. They cut the cost of the car. I don’t pay for ashtrays anymore either.

The blame should go to them.
What do you care about what other people are buying?
