There must be a small but dedicated group of people who still go for station wagons. Just saw a Mercedes wagon and every so often you see a BMW. A few Audis and VWs as well. They must be low volume and are not cheap but apparently, enough people want them to make it worthwhile. Some say SUVs killed the wagon but both Mercedes and BMW have a big line up of SUVs too. Interestingly, they are all European.

I’m interested in the final iteration of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo to see how it changed from the recent pre-production models tested in CA. We travel with a larger pet carrier and the additional space works for us. I don’t think they’re slated for production until 2020 and I have no idea if we’ll be able to afford one with retirement looming but it might be a good bet to place a small deposit for a few years.

You still see a handful of wagons from European marques because they're still relatively popular in Europe. All of the development costs and most of the production costs are already spent, so all they need to do to make it worth their while to sell them here is cover the costs of federalizing it. I greatly prefer wagons to CUVs because they have all the utility/flexibility of CUVs with better fuel economy through better aerodynamics and better handling due to lower center of gravity. And they don't look like poseur-mobiles.

They're way easier to deal with than an SUV or van where you have to deal with moving rear seats, etc. And/or they're just cheaper.

Personally, when I ever buy another vehicle, it will probably be a small van, instead of a small pickup like I have now, just so I have the option of sleeping in it for camping, etc.

We see a lot of Subaru OBW's throughout the Rocky Mountain West.

In addition to their being an excellent adverse weather driving conditions vehicle, the utility of the interior volume is highly appealing for many folks' needs.

For us, hauling farm/ranch building materials, feed, and small livestock is a great plus. We can take lambs/sheep to the vet, or our big livestock guardian dogs to the vet when needed.

Wagons didn't do anything for me until Magnum came along. Wouldn't have mind owning one. It's a puzzle why it didn't survive. Couldn't the market support a single American wagon?

I like wagons. Purpose vehicles that carry more and more comfortable than a compact hatchback. They also have a lower lift over height than most SUVs without all the pretending that one needs an off road vehicle.

I wish they would bring back the magnum.

I love wagons. The type that’s basically a sedan but with the extended back end. Mazda 6 wagon or the old Focus wagon types. Even the old mercury colony park wagon we had growing up was amazing.

Like others said they’re lower to the ground so they get better mpg, and are more fun to drive. Plus they simply look better than cuvs or suvs. I wish there were more wagon offerings. There’s the Jetta or golf wagon and some other pricey Euro wagons and that’s about it. Subaru calls the outback an suv now and it looks more suv than wagon. Buick has a nice looking new wagon but it’s too expensive.
