Either stay with Jeep or get a F150 4x4 than you will have no worries.
I DO have a Ford F150 4×4.
My Element is my daily transport vehicle....love it. Holds a LOT of stuff, easy to maneuver, decent mpg, very reliable and comfy interior for my 6'4" frame. Never had a problem getting thru sand or mud.
Will never own a Compass.
Have a friend with an old Willis that we use in the river, hunting lease, etc.

Cool F150 4x4 are great trucks never rode in a Honda Element living in Metro Detroit it’s to popular here.
I would go with a used (pre CVT or manual trans) Subaru AWD. Have it checked out by a mechanic familiar with the brand prior to purchase.
Should prove to be more reliable than a Compass...I could not believe the problems I read people are having with their practically brand new vehicles

Not where the OP lives. Subaru’s aren’t very popular down here on the gulf coast, the dealers are sparse and independent mechanics don’t want to touch them.
