Does anyone know if cars.com targets certain states for the dealers that advertise with them? I live in Kansas City, and a 500 mile radius search gets me to Milwaukee, Dallas and Eastern Colorado. But I never find any dealers on there from Kansas, Oklahoma or Nebraska. Only a few from Iowa, some Missouri and Wisconsin, lots of Dallas and Chicago area. Not the world’s most earth shattering problem, but I found it curious.
Dealerships have to sign up with Cars.com and other sites like them. That's why multiple sites exist. Some dealers list their inventory on AutoTrader, some on Cars.com and some list on both.
