I work part time for a non profit organization. They were doing road work on their own properties
paved roads that required hot tar. A notification went out to employees informing them of the work being done. I do not have access to the email system from my home only when I am on the site. Driving on the property for my work schedule for my shift my car was damaged with the hot tar. They said use a "tar and bug" removal product which I did but to no avail.

I want them or their contractor to clean my car. Am I on solid ground with this request?

Didn't you see that the tar was super fresh and possibly would damage your car?

I don't think you have ground for that request, but you can politely ask if he has any recommendations on how to remove the tar.

Since tar is oil based, its cleaning is different from bugs and tree sap removal. I don't think the Tar and Bug removal would work.
You could try this:

How long has the tar been on your paint? What product did you use to try and remove it? What process did you use?

On the paint for 5 days. Used Meguiars bug and tar remover. Followed instructions on the can.

It's oil based, so use something oil based to remove it.

I'd probably start with diesel fuel or gasoline.

Try some Citrol 266. Scott from Dallas Paint Correction seems to love the stuff.

The paving companies usually barricade the fresh tar areas until it dries to drive on it. So I’m assuming you ignored the delineators and drove on through. I would tell you to pound sand. You were notified and most likely the area was cordoned off.

Bug and tar remover works well. Lighter fluid works too

Kerosene works well as a tar remover. The local hardware store carries it.

Question is, OP, DID THEY? If they did not, slacked, you do have grounds. Except that you will have to prove it. A dashcam maybe?

I'll toss in example. At my old office, we parked outside, about 200 ft away from a propane place. One day they decided to spary paint their tanks and oversprayed all cars parked outside. They cleaned them all at no cost no questions asked.
