When you say lost performance do you mean they arent as quick off the line anymore, or the engines don't run the same as they used to?
It could be too many things to list here with my old thumbs typing haha It could be a transmission slipping if you arent leaving a red light the way you used to, it could be any number of things on the engine.
Mounted a roof top tent on the cargo rack. Knew that aerodynamics would suffer but did not expect a 4 mph decrease in speed - so far. Carried a large curvy cargo container for photography gear and that had little effect. Perhaps I need to add some curves to that tent box.

With the Jeep the top speed has declined from terrible to forget it - 65mph to 61mph. It is a crawler and everything I did helped for the trails and hurt for the highway. But I need to use the highway to get to the trails. I may just flat pull it. Have done that before.
35 x 12.5 mud tires killed it more than anything. Stuck a knife in performance. Yes - I had it regeared. Huge tires are like pulling four small anchors.
It used to start in less than a second. Now it takes maybe 1.5 seconds. I fear that I lost some compression at only 70,000 miles.

Sounds like a fuel issue. Could be as simple as a fuel pressure regulator or a clogged fuel filter

EGR system? Not familiar with that. I played with 60's vintage engines - a lot.
