What's to love?

It is a DULL AS DISHWATER copycat CUV with no redeeming qualities that set it apart from the pack.

- It doesn't have exceptional power.

- It doesn't have exceptional quality.

- It doesn't have exceptional features.

- It doesn't have an exceptional price.

- It doesn't have exceptional marketing.

It deserves to fade away into the background, and it will not be missed. It's a Mazda, but it is not a model of character like a Miata or an RX7.

Mazda is bad at PR. They have the sportiness pedigree and marketing but that's not what sells normal cars.

Subaru outsells both VW and Mazda in the US. Because Subaru has the niche brand mentality. People buy their cars if they fall into the outdoor or non-mainstream brand mentality.

I've owned 2 Mazdas and they were ok cars, not great but not bad. But Mazda keeps putting out cars that only target Honda and Toyota. Other than the Miata, they don't have a niche car that Honda doesn't make.

There's also lack of fan service, after 2 gens of Mazdaspeed 3s they stop making them while Subaru has released 5+ generations of STIs here and keep putting out limited versions

We only saw 1-2 special Miatas and never gotten any other versions. The RX7 was canceled and RX8 as well while other car companies are putting out various niche models.

Mazda has had failed leadership in the past even though they make some great cars.

I was looking at Mazda when I was in the market last year. I liked them but I dont see exactly what about them justifies their pricing. I dont pay extra for Japanese cars.

Funny story - long ago, a coworker told me she responded to a dealership mailer because it advertised getting a free XBOX just for test driving a new Mazda (she is a mother of two boys). She came home with a brand new CX-5! I can't make this up!

They do have some nice looking cars that are well priced for what your are getting. I thought about one. At the end of the day it really didn’t mater how nice or good of a deal the Mazda was. The last 3 cars we had where all Toyota’s that never had any issues all around 200k miles. My requirements for a car is cheap reliable and efficient. Toyota has given me that and I am leery of switching brands and loosing any of those 3.

Mazda has a lot of problems as a brand, they sell the same tranverse FWD crap as everyone else but they put a "sport" spin on it and more recently they feel they are now "upmarket" when neither is the case. They are just large enough to stay in business as a commercial concern but not large enough to develop entirely new models and drivetrains on their own (hence alliances with Toyota). They for years had serious corrosion issues, reliability was never bad but never stellar, and resale isn't your friend. After the mid 00s I failed to see a real point for Mazda to still even exist and predict eventually they will merge or simply be acquired.

My hub was delivering Mazdas 20 years ago. I had a 2002 Maxda Tribute that was perfect until a furniture delivery truck totaled it in 2017.

My hub and I test drove every brand except a Rav 4 which was very pricey. It was between a Ford and a Mazda CX5. We shopped with an app, found the 2015 CX5 I wanted 2 1/2 hours away. My hub brought it home with a dolly.

I was emotionally tied to my Trib but the CX5 has grown on me. It's also a nice looking car. I'm so happy I didn't go with the Honda. It has such an ugly body.

By the way, my son had a new 2005 Mazda 3 that got totaled a month after mine. He went with an older Jeep but he loved his Mazda. No rust issues that I remember for either of our cars.

I have some zoom-zoom employee giveaway stuff. I wish they'd bring the trib and 3 back and play up the zoom-zoom. My trib was Cypress green, which wasn't a common color, 4 WD with a heavy duty tow package.
