We have a 1999 Tacoma with 130,000. It has lots of years left. We had to have the starter replaced recently but it runs great. But, buy whatever you want. Your truck should sell fast in Utah.

Your dog will love the Subaru (according to the commercials).

Default Mechanics and car people, what should I replace my Tacoma with?

I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma with 103000 miles on it. I replaced the alternator recently as it went out. I need to replace a warped rotor before I sell it. I live in Utah and i typically take my dog somewhere on weekends so it needs to have 4 doors. Right now I cant justify having a truck with 2 inch lift and 33 inch tires. I seriously off road only about 2 maybe 3 times a year. Even then I figure I can just rent a utv. I'd like to have the same reliability with room for my dog. So I've considered the Lexus is/gs 350, Subaru outback 3.6 or forester xt, dodge charger, honda civic si manual, honda accord v6 manual, and maybe a wrx but insurance might be too much. If you have experience or recommendations with those let me know. Thanks. 20k to 30k budget.

Honda Ridgeline if you need the open bed, else a Subaru Forester or Outback, or a Honda CRV.

You are asking someone who only gets rid of a car when it needs to be towed out of his driveway. Keep it.

None of those cars will hold a candle to your Tacoma.

I put my 07 up for sale last week. I love the truck but I have too many vehicles at the moment.

I just had my 06 Taco stolen back in May. Its a base model 4 cyl/manual trans with 312,000 and the insurance company gave me $6500. These trucks you can really beat on and they will still last a long time. I ended up buying a 2011 for $9600 with less than 100K on it. Not bad if you consider how many miles the other one had. They just hold their resale value well and the truck just keeps running.

There is no justification other than you are willing to spend money to get what you want.
