Question - if you have tinted your vehicle did you regret doing it? How has it helped in super hot weather in terms of interior temps when the car has been sitting out in the sun? Did you tint the front windshield as well (I know it's not legal in some places - I live in TX btw so it looks like front windshield can be tinted to 25% VLT).
What % tint did you go with, I want to tint all windows but don't want it completely blacked out, also want good outside visibility for a passenger from the inside. Is 25% VLT tint throughout good?
The most important thing when it comes to tint isnt the percentage, its ceramic over non ceramic. I got mine tinted what ever the limit was, 20% I believe.
I have tinted every car I have owned. It is the first thing I do, will do it within a week of buying.
Yes, it helps with the heat, mostly while driving and being in it, from the sun beating down, but it gets hot anyway when sitting out, it is not some magical cooling item.
My front is tinted with clear tint, it keeps the sun's heat down.
I got five percent (well, combined with the factory tint, it is equal to five percent) on the rear and rear side windows (it is an SUV), and 20% on the front side windows, clear tint on the windshield.
Find out your state’s laws first. If your vehicle’s windows already have a light factory tint then if you ask for the maximum “legal” tint then your tint will be illegal. Wife had her vehicle tinted and she made them do it over. It was much too dark to be legal.
If you are trying to do it yourself, I highly recommend using the static-cling type of tinting.....if you botch the install, you just pull it off and redo.

Yeah, it's a HUGE difference. Limo tint, 5 percent, maybe 15 percent heat reduction. It's more for being a baller or privacy. I have 70 percent windshield, front windows, 50 percent back. It's not really that noticeable. It cuts glare a bit, but obviously not much. Does a better job of heat reduction. Doesn't matter so much here but in 110 degree heat it absolutely does.
Obviously darker ceramic will do a better job of heat reduction, but then there's trade offs. I really would not want 20 percent on the front windows even if legal just due to night visibility. Legality aside I'd probably so 70 on the windshield and 35 elsewhere. You get some privacy with 35 but not much. 50 is practically none.
When i lived in Florida i had a guy come to my house and tint my vehicle windows. He used 3m tint that were cut exactly to the window size of my vehicle. I had the darkest tint i could have on all the windows except the front windshield he had to go a little lighter because of state law. In Florida it helped reduce the heat quite a bit. The tint never peeled off it looks like it came with the vehicle from the factory.
I can go as dark as I want via a letter from an eye doctor, so I had my friend do 10% I believe and it’s great. I had him do windshield at 50% and it’s not really noticeable from outside, but was nice on reducing dash glare. My interior is tan, so any window tinting looks like it isn’t as dark as the interior gives off way more light. Windshield tint is illegal here, so it was on car when I bought it if it ever came up. The only time I didn’t like it was an underground not lit up parking ramp during winter in MN when rolling windows down when it’s 20 degrees wasn’t happening, just went slower. Polarized sunglasses can pick the tint up too at certain times, which can be annoying, I just don’t wear them driving.
All my cars are tinted including the full windshield.
