Yes and no. There are "standards" but there are more than one.
In the US - there are essentially 3 - the CCS1, J1772, and Tesla.

Most cares will have adapters though with the exception of Tesla. While Tesla's have adapters for CCS1 and J1772, a non Tesla can't utilize the Tesla superchargers... for now. Elon mentioned they are working on making their supercharger network available... whether or not that is true is yet to be seen.

I use 14-30, and some use 6-50.

Didn't he also remove the supercharge functionality from some older cars?

Ah.. Salvaged vehicles. But.. It's a bad precedent. If you do something Tesla doesn't like, they'll disable your ability to charge the vehicle, cut off software updates..

That's the part that scares me. I get that salvage is a tricky situation.. But..

Tesla removed "Free" supercharging entitlements. Has nothing to do with supercharging, in fact the newer Model 3 uses Supercharging V3 which charges twice as fast as the V2 supercharging.

Most people don't realize how far ahead Tesla is in the EV game. From the battery tech, to efficiency, charging infrastructure, and speed.

There are no EVs other than Teslas that can charge from 10% to 70% in under 20mins.

I doubt Elon will allow non-Teslas use their charging stations. Because Superchargers require car communication, I get annoyed trying to use a non-Tesla charging station when I rather just find a Tesla supercharger for it's ease of use and simplicity.
