true. when i am at a stop light, i tend to floor it a lot to get up to speed in a couple of seconds and leave everyone else in my dust.

if i was looking for economical, id probably be looking at the bolt.

i put a 220 volt outlet by my garage, cost including install was $500. that gets me about 30 miles of added range per hour.

my wife asked me the other day if i see myself ever buying a gas powered car. im not 100% sure why but i dont. i like not going to the gas station, i like the acceleration, i like no oil changes and i just feel like its better not dealing with a gas engine. my decision really had nothing to do with the environment.

Maybe the Bolt? I only drive 50 miles a week and the included charger does 4 miles per hour charge. A 220 volt charger is $600 and then you gotta pay someone big money to have it installed and do the 220 amp breaker thingy.
where do I start on what's wrong with this post...

Make sure you have a 200 amp service and a additional sub panel for the new EV charger. Just because you have a 220v breakers in your breaker box doesn’t mean that you’re electrical service can operate a new 220v EV charger. So that rebate won’t cover the cost of upgrading your electric service if needed to have a EV charger installed. I know my home only has a 109 amp service and i also have a electric hot water heater, a electric dryer and central A/C. I know if i wanted a EV charger i would have to upgrade my electric to handle the extra load of a EV charger. Look on the main breaker and see how many amps it says.
I don't think you need a subpanel to carry the Level 2 charger circuit. But you will need a beefy 2-pole circuit breaker and cable rated for 30-60 amps, depending on the charger's capacity requirements.

My 1932 home, however, was upgraded to a 200 amp service almost two decades ago, and most homes built after the '80s have had a 150-200 amp panel already. Of course, a lot of the country has gas water heater and dryers, so that may not be as much of an issue as first seems.

Here's an example, from someone on the Bolt forums:

And his setup:
That's an interesting solution via sharing an existing high capacity circuit with the "smart switch" - I didn't know those existed. Thanks for sharing.

And yeah, the deals on new Bolts right now are great. If you are a Costco member, you can get $3000 off the already low sale price of them, meaning you can buy a new 2021 Bolt for under $20k, or lease it for under $200/mo.

BTW, the 220V breaker is simply a double breaker on your existing box. If you have a dryer in your house, or an AC unit, you already have 220V breakers in there.
The Chevy website says that Bolt START at $36,500. They are discounting them over $16,000?

https://www.chevrolet.com/electric/bolt-ev

It looks smaller than a Prius. Not saying it is and that isn't necessarily a bad thing for a commuter/around town car.

They are discounting them heavily to get people to buy them. No idea if they’re actually making any money off of them.

Camaro with the 6.2 is rated at 16/27 and 20 combined. Something must be wrong with yours if you’re only getting 8 mpg.

New Bolt supposedly comes with free installation of a level 2 charger provided the work to install the charger isn't too crazy. I'm curious as to how they determine what is too much and where you start paying out of pocket for it.

I don't doubt it.....My first new car was a '71 Chevelle SS, with the 454/365 engine, backed by a 4 speed manual transmission, and a 3.31:1 rear gear. If I drove it in a reasonable manner, I could average 15 MPG with it. Hell, with my current Corvette, I average around 20 MPG around town, and 30 MPG on the highway.
