europeans make do with far less cy-wise. they use graduated licenses over there...more training and TESTING to move up in displacement. I have been told by many people that by the time a european gets qualified for litre class...they can come to the states and win any motoGP in the states. 90-250cc are their bread and butter. (I just saw a couple brand new CT125s this elderly couple hauled to the campground...they set up the rv and explored the wilderness rec area at 70mpg...Id love to have a couple but the $4k base entry is, well, steep)
Yes, the 250cc motorcycles seem to be the most polar with long distance riders arriving to Alaska.
I see some RVers towing very small automobiles, too. I have seen a couple of very small Suzuki 4x4 automobiles around here. My 2012 Corolla is very economical, and lots of people around Fairbanks drive the small Toyota and Honda automobiles.
e-bikes make riding 10-30 miles accessible to even couch potatoes. For local travel, in mild weather they are great, and if they ride with with a mix of pedal power and battery power, the rider will be healthier too.
The main problem is using an eBike to pick up a couple bags of water softener salt.
An Easy Rider trike with one of their trailers would be great for cross-country travel. But if you already have the right bike such as a Honda Gold Wing or a Harley you can save a little cash (the kits are expensive). http://www.easyridertrikes.com/gallery/
Yeah, that would be pushing it. Carrying a balanced 40lb on a sturdy rack is very doable, but 80lb would be asking for trouble. They do make special cargo bikes for carrying more serious loads, but I don't think they're as nice for general purpose riding. The rear rack on this puppy is rated for 120lb... note the stretched tail and lower center of gravity. https://www.radpowerbikes.com/collec...ric-cargo-bike

I can only imagine a bear chasing after a biker that carries 2 bags of water softener salt. A motorized Gold Wind tricycle makes more sense to me, or just the smallest ICE automobile available: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...s-say-n1282283
