Possibly, C43 AMG is phasing out the generally panned V6 for a 2.0 turbo. 402 HP, 379 torques from a 2 liter, solid numbers especially for a stock setup. Modern twin scroll snails it's not like the 90s when you made 400 hp from at the expense of large amounts of turbo lag. Squeezing out a few more horses from the CLA45 and dropping it in the C43, electric turbocharger to improve response. It'll be interesting if they carry it over to the E class.

I don't care how fast this new C63 will be, I have absolutely ZERO interest in it. Sad, I used to live for AMG models.

The 6 cylinder engine dates back to 1924. The history of these engines is a massive topic. The original post asked for opinions about one of the brands that makes engines with no more than 6 cylinders, dropping down to the just 4 cylinder group.
It's a much more specific topic.As Buick only has the ENCLAVE as a 6 cylinder model (a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine, which offers 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque), I think hey are the most likely to adopt a turbocharged engine and downsize to the all 4 cylinder group.

Yes, I was wondering (and probably Pikabike had the same question) whether this
Ford 'durability champ' was the large inline 6.
At first blush, an inline 6 seems old and inefficient (compared to a more compact V-6);
the kind of engine you might find in a farm truck... and yet, they seem to last and last.
The famous Chrysler "Slant 6" was an inline design, and renown for its longevity.
And Chevy's 250 six was a dependable performer too (I had a car with one of those).
As for the reason why they're so long-lasting, maybe it has to do with the fact that
inline sixes are naturally "balanced" (something I learned from a Youtube video) --
the vibrations from the cylinders cancel each other out. Inline fours aren't balanced;
V-6s might be, or not... it depends on the angle between the cylinder banks.
Ford used that inline six in some of its vans, and I'd like to acquire a van for camping.
But if the engine has actually been out of production for 26 years... well, I'm not going
to look at vans that old.

The Lexus RX is losing it's 6-cylinder engine in 2023. It will be turbo-4 powered or hybrid. The ES 6-cylinder may not last much longer either.
The title of this discussion is "the end of the 6 cylinder". Maybe I'm making an assumption, on the part of the OP, as when I think 6 cylinder, I tend to think inline 6 cylinder. With respect to them, I think if there's a demise of them, it's a "packaging issue", as an inline engine tends to be a LONG engine, for it's displacement.
