If the EV would be constantly turned on, anybody could just steal it. This vehicle still needs to be turned on and off (powered on/off) before driving it. However, some of the systems are constantly active, including the battery temperature management system.
It’s not truly “on/off”, at least not with Teslas. They “awake” when your phone or key card gets close and are ready to drive away as soon as you shift to forward or reverse.
The Prius Prime is choosing performance over economy when you floor it... similar to the RAV4 Prime. While you can certainly set it to EV mode and floor it without having the gas engine start, in order to get the performance numbers (0-60) as advertised, you will need to be in Hybrid mode and the engine will turn on to increase torque (not due to the lack of reserves in the battery).
The prior Prius lost power in sport mode. A big group of people did a Cannonball Run from NY to CA with one rule of 100whp or less. They all had to go to a dyno just before starting and that’s where they learned that being a guy used his Prius.

Thanks, it is very interesting. I imagine that the "awake" part is the power-on I was referring to. Something like this, plus what you wrote above:
When you open a door to enter Model 3, the touchscreen powers on and you can operate all controls. To drive Model 3: Press the brake pedal - Model 3 powers on and is ready to drive.
Select a drive mode - move the drive stalk down for Drive or up for Reverse (see Shifting).
Note
What I tried to say to the other poster is that the EV is not constantly powered on. The driver does that.
I think car makers should just educate and post the facts than not inform.
Yea, people should know

Performance and mileage may vary by model. The displayed drivable distance may vary depending on external factors such as speed, weather conditions and road conditions.
^That's the disclaimer the SK court said Tesla needed to add which they did not have before on their website. It's good guidance and true for all vehicles, and I support the idea that people should know their tools.
