Yes, you can get a ticket but usually they just scold you. Probably not going to get pulled over only for that, but if you're pulled over for something else and they decide to stick it to you they can add that to the ticket.
I think it is dumb to advertise for any dealership. But I think that is what I am going to do, ask one of the local ones around. Worst come worst, I will order from Amazon.
Again - why do you have a frame?
There is no reason to have a frame and provide free advertising for a business.
BTW, you don't have to be driving to have a potential problem. All vehicles parked on the street must comply with the laws.
So I registered my car in Washington, DC(I know NOT a state) and the dealership frame from my previous state blocks the name "Washington, DC" on my rear license plate.
However, the numbers and letters on the plate can easily be read. I only drive two or three days a week tops to far off work locations(locations that lack mass transit)or if I am going deeper into rural areas of Virginia but rest of the days I use the DC Metro train system which is easier than driving and less stressful.
I much rather avoid the police and don't want to give them a dumb reason to pull me over. It wastes my time which is more valuable than having a conversation with them on the side of the road and getting falsely accused of intentionally obscuring my plate.
So, should I just get a new frame to avoid dealing with potentially getting pulled over?
I don't understand all the consternation about, basically, nothing.
I haven't used a dealer frame in decades. You can get a simple, thinner, plain stainless steel frame for $10-12. I've used the same one for many years, just removing before selling a car and replacing the dealer frame on the new car.
Yeah, dump that frame. Get a new one if you like the look.
Both of my cars have frames advertising a service place; they discount oil changes if I have the plate. Worth it to me for something I don't look at and don't care about otherwise.

My car is kept in a garage inside my building. It's not parked on the street. And in my workplaces it is kept inside a facility patrolled by private security and they don't care.
I only kept the frame because I don't like my plate drilled into the bumper cause it is a ghetto thing to do and looks sloppy.
My only concern are the drives in between or if my car is parked in some parking lot like a Costco and a police officer with nothing else better to do check plates.

Just because you judge a car w/o a frame around a plate as ghetto, doesn't make it so.
It is not ghetto to not have a frame. Many cars have no frame and that alone does not make it ghetto.
Your preference is to have frame. Good reason to get a new frame.
