You created new account and dredged up a 5-year-old thread to loudly reiterate your preferred turn signal lens color at us?

Well done, sir. Many will be impressed.

He just wants to be noticed. Bold type and amber turn signals will help with that.

Well, good for you.

I'm just the opposite. My OEM Silverado had amber's, and I quickly replaced the taillights with the all red version. Amber just looks ugly.

A lot of japanese and Euro model vehicles do have taillights available with the amber signal if you so desire. You'll just have to pay for them and install them yourself.

I prefer amber signals myself

Interesting to read all the thoughts about colors of turn signals, if a light is single or multi function. Problem is that there are a lot of drivers that don't know their vehicle is capable of showing their turn intentions or the purpose of that little stick on the left side of the steering wheel.

Putting this one to rest (with references):

1. Europe requires amber turn signals.

2. US and Canada allow only red or amber rear turn signals, and only amber in front.

3. US and Canada require a MINIMUM SURFACE AREA for rear turn signals.

Thomas Tetzlaff, spokesman for Volkswagen Canada.
“The colour of the turn signals on vehicles in Europe is legislated to be amber. In North America, there is no such legislation, but there are different regulations about the minimal surface area of the blinkers. In many cases, you will notice manufacturers, including us, using brake lights as their turn signals in order to comply with the North American regulations.”

BMW Canada spokesman Robert Dexter.
“Utilizing a red signal allows us to meet the surface area requirement without a redesign of the basic structure of the taillamp assembly, which, as you can imagine, would be a costly endeavour. The red signal option offers a practical solution which fully meets considerations of design and production costs.”
