Remember this guy's name -- Scott Weires -- because I think he's a new American hero.

Mr. Weires, an attorney who lives in Florida, is apparently something of a car nut and, like most of his peers, he fell in love with the new 2009 Nissan GT-R. Enough in love that he ordered one.

For me it would say always!

but how about a devise that turns off a car if the driver talks on a cell phone, or if the driver runs a red light, drives drunk, automatically sends a ticket to the local DOT if their roads are in poor condition....dangerous things!!!!

I think the title of this thread is what's misleading - the black box stores all this information, but it doesn't give it to the police. That's the debate going on now in the courts - Fourth amendment rights versus police knowing what the car was doing.

I bought a C6 Z06 which is pretty much a comparable to the GT-R. He can save himself a few bucks and keep some of his fellow Americans employed by going this route instead.

Sounds like he drives like a maniac though lol.

Almost all new cars record information and will have it stored if there is an accident. The issue is how much memory is onboard and who has access to it.

Unfortunately, John . . . this "Black Box" component is not unique to the GT-R.

There have been many articles revealing the "snooping" capabilities of the computers on many, if not all, newer vehicles.

There's both a positive as well as a negative to this information in the event of a crash, depending on which side you are on.

i would rather be behind a vehicle with a person talking on their cell phone and driving, than a person that snswers their cell phone and their car turns off, making me get into an accident, what a stupid idea...
