Stupid thread. GM did NOT announce a price of zero on their stock! An investment firm said ZERO is their new "target price" for the stock, as they consider GM to have NO chance to recover and any bailout will mean Federal ownership, wiping out stockholder equity. Further stupidity is that this thread does NOT belong in the Presidential Election Forum, even though politicians many be involved in any bailout, it is NOT an election issue. Good grief.
2.1 million jobs and people *weighing hands* 50+ billion.
We should include a no union or renegotiated union contract clause.
At this rate in the next few quarters the Government will own all means of production. Now banks are screaming unfair treatments with the government loans. Probably not much of a better person to be taking over to transition us into all out socialism.
You make it sound like it's the workers fault that GM, in lieu of giving pay increases in the past, decided to push their problems off to the future by providing uber-generous retirement benefits. I don't think the union was saying "hey, don't give us more money, give us benefits for decades to come!"

Here here. Everything I thought while reading the OP's first post.
As the OP, why don't you provide a link to politics? I was merely suggesting it was in the wrong forum and I have reported it upon your gracious recommendation.

This isn't an election issue for you? 2.1 million people this could include with no real promise of solving the issue. Who's to say the failed policy of strong arming the company to the point of destruction will happen again in 6 month.

You ever worked for a union? I have matter of fact two of them. I got to see upfront and direct the policies of strong arm tactics to force business. It's a good thing it was government funded even though it still caused the utter demise of that sister company.
If you haven't worked for a union or have interest in this like owning a GM car or worked for the company or own stock or have any vested interest in the topic why would you continue to post....just something to think about trolls. And even further if you provide infalmmatroy responses this isn't thread as it was and is a serious topic....just like the increase in funds to AIG again. Plus the all of the other companies saying hey wait if they get some we want some...Only morons would think this has nothing to do with the election and the policies going on behind the scenes.
