Among other interests, I'm really into cars. Have been since I was a little boy. I'd like to hear about the cars you've owned, your favorite one, whatever. Mine:
65 Impala coupe, 283, 3 on the tree (first car)
66 GTO 389, 4 spd
69 GTO 400, auto
70 Buick GS 455 convertable
73 Plymouth Duster 340, 4spd (first new car)
77 Chevy Van (remember the van craze of the '70s?)
78 Camaro Z28 350, 4spd
85 Chevy Caprice 2 door
90 Nissan 300 ZX 3 litre, 6spd
96 Impala SS (son was born and the 2 seater 300ZX had to go)
97 Camaro Z28 350 LT1, 6spd
That is a pretty impressive list Doc...bet you wish you had some of them now, huh?
My first car was a 1969 Dodge Super Bee, gave $1600.00 for it in 1976, still brings tears to my eyes.
Second was a 1969 Pontiac Firebird, 400 cid 4 speed, scary fast. (By yesteryears standards)
Third was a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, 402 cid 4 speed.
Friendly Judge suggested I tame my taste for speed, bought a 1968 Dodge pickup, 383 cid auto....shift on the dash (anyone remember that??)
1973 Plymouth Fury, 440
1977 Plymouth Fury, 440
Court visit again....
1973 AMC Ambassador 360 cid, ugly car but fast...a nice sleeper!
1981 Honda Accord
1987 Pontiac Grand Am
1989 Saab 900
1989 Audi
1995 Ford F-150
1995 Ford F-350 7.3 w/ 242,000 miles...still running strong...
And my penchant for Willy's jeeps..
A complete frame up on my 1951 3a
A complete original 1946 v.e. 2a
OH YEA! I'm into cars and so is hubby. I've always had something for cars and trucks. The first car I bought I knew EVERYTHING about that baby (and wish I had it today even though they are not considered "a prize") and would easily put the guys at Chiefs to shame everytime I went in there.
Cars I've had:
80 Ford F150 P/U - first and last Ford
81 Chevy Camaro - wish I still had
85 Buick Skyhawk - nice grey model, this was after I kept getting stopped in the YELLOW Camaro.
86 Pontiac Grand Am - RED
93 Isuzu Rodeo - time for a family car
99 Chevy Suburban
02 Chevy Suburban
Cars I've driven be it they belonged to mom & dad or hubbies:
65 Ford P/U - manual on the column - "three on the tree"
Couple Oldsmobiles
81 Dodge Challenger - boyfriends now dh
86 Dodge Conquest - boyfriends and he still owned it when we got married
72 Chevy P/U
and many others I can not remember
Chevy Corvette C6 (Coupe or Convertible)
2007 BMW 335Ci Twin-Turbo Convertible
possibly a new Porsche 911
The one problem about having a passion for cars is that it can get real expensive real fast. I don't have an unlimited checkbook like a couple of my friends or my parents do. They can go out and drop $50,000 on a car and not even blink. I was VERY tempted when I was buying to Yukon to buy a Corvette instead but then reality sunk in and I knew that I NEEDED an SUV. But when I move I WILL have a brand new Corvette sitting in my garage!
I've been looking at cars that someday could be my kids first car to drive. She knows we have a passion for cars and she kinda does too but she can bet all the money in the world that her first car is NOT going to be the ones she wants: Dodge Viper or Corvette C6. For a first car, NO WAY! However I did find this beauty and reading Speedy's list I remembered it. I think she would like driving it when it got right down to it. How would your kid feel having something like this for a first car?
Man I can't even remember all the cars I've owned.
Had:
57 Chev Belair (first car)
68 Camaro
70 Nova
A handfull of ford-dodge-chevy trucks
51 chevy pickup (drove from Arkansas to Alaska)
78 Harley Sportster
90 Brand new 5.0 5 speed Mustang (bad mofo)
A couple 80's minivans
This is no way the entire list. Just out of highschool I would own 10 or 12 vehicles a year. Wheelin and dealin.
Currently:
1923 Ford model T sedan
1927 Ford model T Roadster/pickup
1968 chev pickup (restored)
1991 Dodge diesel pickup
1997 Plymouth voyager (manvan)
'91 Acura Integra (really my sister's car, but I drove it for a while)
'92 Ford Mustang
'94 Mazda Protege
'95 Nissan Pathfinder - totally tricked out by the Japanese guy I bought it from
'96 (?) Jeep Grand Cherokee
'99 Volkswagen Passatt
'05 Honda Accord LX (my current car, which I love to death!)
Note: Most of the above cars have been manual transmission... the only way to go, in my humble opinion.
I'm really into cars, but have mostly just owned new (or almost new) kinda "practical" cars so far... my DREAM cars would be a '65 Mustang, '56-58 Corvette, or a classic Porsche Boxster. Wowie.

I'd be excited if I got something like that. Those old Caddy's are really built to last and with those bench seats..... I don't particularly care for the color though, I'd paint it white or red. Reminds me of Boss Hogg's Cadillac off the Dukes of Hazzard.

Dad bought a '58 Vette at BJ this year, he LOVES it. Beautiful car but I prefer the 63-67 body styles.
I would like to get ahold of a the last Camrao they made, convertible.
Own a Z06 someday.
Hopefully they bring back a nice sedan RWD Impala SS.
