I've never owned either but I've driven a '98 sport auto in 4cyl and a 2003 v6 in stick. I liked the manual transmission one and liked it a lot. You'll have more room for people and actually carrying things in your car if you went with a wrangler. It's fun in the summer with the top down and doors off and great in snow in the winter. I haven't owned a Miata, but I did own an equally tiny Honda S2000. I loved it, but it wasn't convenient because I could hardly carry anything in it. Go with the Wrangler- get the best of both worlds- convertible, space, 4WD- just make sure you get it inspected before you buy and that it has all its maintenance up to date

Wow, how this thead erupted while I wasn't looking!! LOL!!

First - the image of a Saint in the front of a Miata with the top down kills me. All I can see is the Flintstone car tipping on it's side!! LOL!!

I live in an area that might get a few inches of snow once or twice a year. Maybe. Snow isn't an issues.

No off roading for me. We've got a pasture out back and *if* I got the Wrangler I might use that to haul stuff out back, but if not, I've got the Explorer and that does just fine.

As for the other options, I was thinking of the Solstice and Sky on the way to work today. Figured, hell, if I'm going to get a tiny convertible, why not get something I really really like? I've never driven either and would need to do that a bit first, but that is an option! And yes, it's the Z4 now. They had one on the lot that I looked at one of the Wranglers at. I like the 3 though. The 4 looks bizarre to me from behind. I want my car to have a cute butt!! LOL!!

And as for space, it's my car. No one will be in it but me. Definitely no kids. Dogs, yes. Kids, no way! And I don't ever put / keep anything in my car except my purse and a briefcase with my rescue papers. So, space isn't an issue.

Ok, more to think about as I look then!
