Okay I'm interested in buying a 02 Mercedes CL600 w/ 102,000 miles. Now my question is is this too high of a mileage for a Benz, I know about cars especially american cars, but nothing of foreign cars. Help me out! thank u
All miles are not created equal. If the car accumulated these miles in a mostly rural, highway environment in a non-rusting area, it could be just broken in. If it went 102K in NYC, it's probably shot.
This is a rather expensive car to maintain, it's probably not the best first foreign car to cut your teeth on.
You should get it professionally inspected by a real car appraiser, best couple of hundred bucks you could ever spend. Particularly if there are problems lurking.
This car is powerful, but it's heavy, not particularly dynamic. Unless you want to go with the "new Russian" look - flat top haircut, dark sunglasses, canary colored sport coat, big gold chains - I'm not certain I get the point.
Well without appearing to argue with myself, I am not recommending that you specifically not buy this car, just that you rent some expertise to evaluate it, and buy only if your rented expert recommends buying.
And, definitely, have some reasonably substantial cash reserves available to do any maintenance.
This is, however, definitely not a poor boy's car.
All Mercedes have too many gadgets that could fail, I'd never buy one without a warranty. 100K miles on a Benz is quite a few so I'd walk away. What exactly are they asking for it? Seems to me like you're trying to buy a car you can't really afford...
I would not purchase a German vehicle (BMW, Benz, Audi) unless it was relatively new and had a warranty. They are cars you dispose of as soon as the warranty runs out so that some other sucker can be stuck with the repair bill.
judging from eryone's input this car is a crap shoot to say the least they are asking 19,000 for the car. So I guess they just want to get rid of it, I do have a someone who works on those cars but I haven't had him look at the car yet. And to clarify a few things, one we do things in DC a whole lot differently; obviously and to speedyAZ I make over $50,000 just at my weekday job and another $30,000 on weekend job, thanks
