Don't come cryin' when Chevy voids your warranty for running molasses in your engine.

But I have to say, this is one ridiculous story I've witnessed. So I thank you for that.

I bought the vehicle used and I currently have 45K miles on the odometer. The 3/36 is long over. I did not get the extended warranty and I highly doubt they would cover a mail delivery vehicle anyway.

I will not bother asking you your expertise about engines and oil. You are the be all end all of automotive knowledge.

most GM cars require Mobil 1 Motor Oil 5W-30 it is recommended and it states it on the oil cap and I use it both in my car and truck even though it is on the expensive side but hey in the end it's worth it IMO.

Mobil 1 is the ONLY store brand I would buy if I had to. Quaker State, Valvoline...all garbage.

As I was saying, I am not using my Impala for pleasure cruising. My engine and tranny are worked to death. No vehicle is made to handle the abuse I put it through. Hell, you should see what a mail route does to tires!!! I am running the Lucas Racing oil 20W-50 in the summer because of the extreme heat that I am putting it through. The engine runs a bit cooler and the oil doesn't thin out as bad during high temp operation. Hence the reason why I am using a heavier weight.

Synthetic 20W50 is actually not "thick" oil at all.

Compared to what, synthetic 5W30? Come on, now. When it's hot, it becomes 50 WEIGHT OIL! Synthetic just flows better, but it's still thick.

Yep;its the vicosity multiplier that does that. I remmeber when Gm was not recomending any multi grade oi above 10w-30 because the additive multiplier has no lubicating value and they feel in testing that oil had too much.I have awasy believe that most oils are SAE tested and pretty equal really.I know around here the refineries will make gasoline for other brands and the only difference is the additive which they mix when blending at the truck fill. Save alot of pipelining of product.
