Hundreds of auto dealers in the New York area have withdrawn from the government's Cash for Clunkers program, citing delays in getting reimbursed by the government, a dealership group said Wednesday.
The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, which represents dealerships in the New York metro area, said about half its 425 members have left the program because they cannot afford to offer more rebates.
Then my prayers would have been answered. Serves them right....
serves who right? dealers aren't really the ones to blame in all of this. if business was drying up to the point where you're laying off workers and/or possibly closing shop in the near future and then something like this came along, why would you NOT be all over it?
Morals... as an older car lover, I would never partake in something like this.
OK, hope those morales can feed your staff and your family when all your cutsomers run down the street to your competitor that IS participating in cash-for-clunkers.
Government paperwork and administrative problems are cited for the delays. I wonder how long a heart physician will wait for his check? Clunker Program II coming to a theater near you this fall. Long lines are expected.
Anyone with even the slightest bit of ability to think for themselves (versus regurgitating what FOX news told them last night) would realize that a government health program would be far more scrutinized and streamlined leading to a speedy reimbursement rate. This isn't some new bewildering concept and has been used in other countries with a high rate of success for years.

tell that to the doctors and hospitals that now refuse to accept medicade/medicare patients due to long delays for receiving payment for services given.
