Ugly does not equal "Worst" on its own. Most of the vehicles on that list are just crappy and/or sold poorly for a variety of reasons. I hear the Aztek is actually a decent mini-van/SUV. But it is SOOOOO ugly that no one bought it.
I dislike the Smart a lot - but if I lived in Paris I might own one.
Well, I bought one of those Azteks and I agree, it was homely on the outside. BUT - since I spend almost all of the time with my vehicle in the interior - the interior was well laid out, it was very menuverable, had a small turning radius, and was easy to park ( good for someone like me with carpaltunnel), handled great in snow, good visability all around, and nothing could beat the cargo space for the size of vehicle. For tailgating, it could equal what a Tahoe could carry and get much better MPG ( I avg. 26-28 highway). It was a bit underpowered with the 3.4l V6, though.
The plastic siding overlays - while really tacky looking, did their job and my Aztek was saved by those many times at the store against shooping carts and other car doors.
Azteks do have a loyal following to this day and every Aztek owner I have ever talked too LOVED their 'Tek - probably some of that came from the ribbing we got from others, but they were incredibly versitile vehicles.
It is a shame that Pontiac couldn't put a better looking outside and I agree the looks are what killed it. Too bad, because if you could get/look past the exterior, they were great vehicles!

Reason: spelling
They also downed the Echo for the center mounted instrument cluster, which I agree with them... thats dumb and I could never get used to it. Too bad they chose the same thing on its replacement, the Yaris, which is a nicer looking car, but I would not buy one because of the instrument clusters position.
Had an aunt that bought an Aztek. She comes rolling up in it and we were all saying, "wth is that?" Such an ugly vehicle. But it was what she wanted. She has a job that involved driving cross country and living temporarily in some locations for months at a time. It was ideally suited for that kind of task. Lots of cargo space without being overly huge. She was really upset when her son borrowed it when she was home and rolled it. (the rest of us were happy we didn't have to look at it anymore) We figured she's just turn around and buy another one but instead she bought a Buick Rendezvous....which is almost as ugly.
I think the Aztek looks quite good compared to the new Nissan C(P)ube. Have you all seen those on the street? They seem to the new in thing in San Francisco, so incredibly ugly.

I own 2 Cubes and yes, they are ugly, but that's all part of the appeal. A nice looking Cube would be counterproductive. Try sitting in one or better yet, driving one. They are AMAZING!

I really think the Cube looks like a neat vehicle..if I was in the market for a new ride it would def be on my list to check out.
Aztek IMHO is much less attractive but as others have said they were really functional on the inside.

I have read the reviews on them, and they are slow and underpowered. They do not handle well either. They have no appeal at all, other than someone who wants to stand out on the road, and make it known that they like ugly cars.
