They made a 2 door K5 Blazer, not sure when they stopped production. If you found one of those, you could put the front sheet metal from the same year Escalade and upgrade the interior. It might be cheaper in the long run.

I have always had this fantasy about buying "the car of my dreams" (Cadillac Escalade) and modifying it into a two-door. Of course, there is a lot more involved than just welding up the two passenger doors; you would actually have to have larger doors on the driver and passenger's side (those of you who are familiar with two-door vehicles know that the doors are HUGE).

Also, I am wondering about structure. If you were to cut a larger entrance two accommodate two larger front doors, how would that work? If a car is not designed to be a two-door, is there something structural (like a load-bearing wall), between the doors that could not be modified without it costing a fortune?

How would you modify a seat to "bend forward" like two door cars' seats do, to allow for a passenger to get in?

I'm sure somebody out there knows about modifying stock vehicles and can help me get an idea of what something like this *might* cost.

Any info appreciated.

To make your dream come true you'd have to have more money than common sense. Doing this is just plain wishful thinking isn't it?

If you must have only two door vehicles then get adept at shopping the used market for the car of your dreams.

Basically what I suggested. 95 for full size Blazer, 99 for Tahoe. I think it'd be cool though to take one from the 80s and spruce it up with emblems, big grille, and interior. Plus you'd have a removable top!

Given a big enough hammer and an unlimited budget, all things are possible.

The modifications alone would cost you more than a good example of the Original M3, which came only as God and the Bavarians intended - 2 doors and 5 speeds...A good one of these will go *up* in value.

If you did modify an Escalade into a 2-door, it would be very hard to value, if you ever went to sell it I doubt you would recover any of the "mod" money, and would probably lose money compared to a stock vehicle.

Here is a better idea. Get out your wallet, grab all the dollars, walk towards the shredder, and insert all dollars. It will instant enjoyment without any headaches.

Doing this much modifications where just about NO ONE wants in will cost you an insane amount. Not to mention if it gets into an accident where it gets totaled, have fun getting anywhere near the amount of money spent.

Surely he knows whatever money went into a huge mod project, the costs would never likely be recouped.

You like two-doors. You like Cadillacs. So why not wait a few months for the CTS Coupe? If the V6 doesn't enough grunt for you (though mind you the optional V6 has considerably more horsepower than your present V8), get the supercharged V8. Yeah, the supercharged version will be pricey, but it's probably a lot cheaper than customizing an Escalade into a two-door.
