Right - IF he actually removed the whole distributor. Also though, a lot of engines had the distributor attached to the back end of the camshaft, and there were no gears involved. It's either on right or it's not on at all.

It'll be interesting to find out what he actually did wrong, then find out what the fix was.

hey everybody i got my truck running this morning! it was the timing. thank you deez nutts for the step by step process it really helped a lot.thanks to everybody else who also tried to help me figure out what the problem was. when ever i have somethin worng with my car i always post something on here because you guys really know what your talkin about.
