Frontier doesn't seem to have improved much since its appearance on Undercover Boss.
I flew with Frontier last summer and they were charging for drinks except a cup of water. On one flight I was sitting next to an older gentleman who didn't have a credit card (meaning he only had cash) so all he could get was the free cup of water.

Good grief, we'll soon be waddling on the plane dressed in layers of our clothes like refugees.

I love flying Southwest. Boarding's easy. Most folks check their luggage. I have never had a problem throwing my carryon in the overhead bin.

I've flown other airlines, paid an extra $10 a leg for an aisle seat only to have a family who got all center seats ask me to switch so they could be together.

I've watched guys loaded down like Sherpas with a rollaround suitcase, a carryon on bag on top, a fold over suit bag, and trench coat. Their stuff takes up an entire bin, leaving no room for the paraphernalia of the other people similarly loaded down.

Then there is the whole meal fiasco. Tired of paying ten bucks for a granola bar and an applesauce cup, travelers now bring their own breakfast burritos and sub sandwiches. Food gets all over everyone in the row since we're all jammed together. Sardines have more room to move.

Frontier was sold last fall to a former exec at Spirit Airlines. Frontier Airlines Sold for $109M to Firm Led by Former Spirit Airlines Exec | Fox Business

I am disappointed. I was a long-time loyal Frontier flyer and earned dozens of FF miles over the years. I really loved the old Frontier. When Republic Airways took over in 2009 that really started their decline. They dropped some routes that I flew several times a year. I had one free ticket left that I needed to use so I flew them a few months ago. Never again.
I am a Southwest customer now.

Does this really surprise anyone, seriously?

People have been getting spoiled on cheap airfare for years. The reality is airlines cost an astronomical amount of money to operate. With fuel prices, the amount of labor involved, the prices of aircraft and parts, people are lucky they're still in business. Packing a plane full of people doesn't even mean you're covering the fuel cost. I think a lot of airlines would go under without adding charges.

They also used to give you warm (well, microwaved) chocolate chip cookies! Not anymore! I'm disappointed that there don't seem to be ANY cheap airfares anymore on any airline.

You used to be able to find good deals on Southwest if nowhere else, but Southwest is just as expensive or more expensive than the other airlines now. Still, I think I will try to fly Southwest from now on because they don't charge for checked luggage and they don't charge change fees.

We booked an economy flight last fall on Frontier and then were unable to go for reasons beyond our control - but had not bought insurance or more expensive flight that we could cancel. They gave us a credit for the amount of our flights. But when I called to use the credit, all Frontier's change fees pretty much ate up all our credit. There was very little left to be applied once they were done with all the fees. At least Southwest lets you use your entire credit and doesn't charge change fees.

I think it would be great if no one could carry on luggage anymore. If it had to be something that could fit under the seat, that would be great. Everyone stowing their luggage in and retrieving their luggage from overhead bins takes so much time.

I haven't flown commercially since 1999. Thank goodness I have my own airplane. I couldn't stand the insanity of flying on any airline.

Yep, bathroom charges are next, based on time and amount of toilet paper used!

Ridiculous! Boycott Frontier!

I can see that and would be fine with a charge for overhead bins as long as I can check my luggage for free. I'd fly another airline before I'd pay for both.

I know frequent flyers who buy clothes at Goodwill and throw them away in hotel rooms rather than check luggage.

One of my good friends has worked for Delta for 20 years. She flies free everywhere with her three kids and the whole family stops at second-hand stores wherever they travel to buy throw-away clothes.
