It would be one way for an airline to make itself more competitive, IMO.

Do they serve meals in First Class?
This is how I think. First class people always get food and better service (also alcoholic beverages).

JetBlue is the only airline providing free unlimited snacks (chips/cookies/nuts) even on shorter flights.

Don't worry, they're not going to knock a few bucks off the price.

It's been happening for so long now, I make sure to pack my own food.

I think that in addition to the free bags of chips, pretzels, and cans of soda....they should at least have sandwiches that you can purchase on board. They already offer alcohol for purchase...why not food??

Several do. I've had some pretty tasty sandwiches on Delta transcon flights.

Their current menu:

This^^!!

First time I have ever heard of anyone wanting to pay more for a ticket, just to cover "free snacks". Kinda nuts.

What do you guys think?
Do you think this is Kindergarten? Why do you feel that your transportation service needs to provide you a "snack"? Are you 5? Are you not able to provide for yourself?

Bring your own.

With passengers willing to switch airlines to save a *dollar*, airlines have to unbundle or not sell any tickets.

The purchasing, storing and serving of alcohol is much easier than perishable food and better margins I'd imagine

Doesn't that seem pretty 3rd World, though? At what point does the situation devolve to the point that people start bringing on board live chickens? I'd rather pay a little more, and go back to the days when they gave you a choice of hot meals.
