Rapping Flight Attendant On Southwest Airlines (VIDEO)

Some people find it annoying and distracting--I found it refreshing.

I personally think that's great and another reason why Southwest has a much more profitable business and never asks for bailouts!

I had an interesting conversation with a Southwest pilot--an ex-military man, and the brother-in-law of one of my best friends. He's piloted for other airlines, but he said that it's an industry secret--of a sort--that Southwest is the safest airline in the country. He said that a lot of government officials--as well as the staff of other airlines--often prefer to fly on Southwest, if at all possible. The airplane maintenance is still in America--no outsourcing to Mexico (as other airlines have done); the CEO is BIG on accountability and safety, as well as on keeping the labor happy; insists on superb customer service; and pilots MUST regularly attend (I don't know what "regularly" means, however--could be annually, I guess) continuing education classes and retesting.

I was on a Southwest flight where the flight attendant rapped. Although I don't care for rap music myself, I though it was an original and creative method of delivering the normal preflight stuff that is usually tuned out, and a great way to differentiate themselves from competitors. That's just capitalism in action.

Haven't flown for a year and a half.... does SWA now issue reserved seating or is it still the get-in-line method with groups A, B, and C?

Thanks!

I think it's open seating nowadays.

Usually, I would be against this type of stuff
I rather them be professional... bla... bla... bla... (my wife thinks I'm boring)

But the truth...
is that most people NEVER EVER listen to anything that the flight attendant says during that announcement, and I guarantee that more than 50% of the people in that flight actually listened to what that guy said because of the way he did he it.

Excellent idea

i thought it was funny - like the previous poster said I've flown so much that i typically tune out the flight attendant but this one would have caught my attention. Now I might have gotten annoyed if he kept doing it throughout the flight.
