all of these are within 30 minutes of downtown
1.owings mills/stevenson (very prestigious area, where most of the ravens live)
2. Pikesville(small twon feel big city amenities, very wealthy area)
3. Towson( a thriving little city)
4. Timonium (its okay)
5. Huntvalley (extremely quiet, rural, safe)

cockeysville will be the hood in the next ten years don't live there (sorry if i offended anyone but go to your local grocery store and check it out) and thats no racism intended, its not about the color of the people, its about the quality of the people, and i'm black by the way!!
I'm starting to notice that too. It's mainly along Cranbrook Rd. Tho. I saw fake Bloods out there a few days ago. Most of cockeysville is quiet tho.

I'd vote for the "Hunt Valley" area too... especially if you love the horse country. Sparks is also great great area, very expensive but worth it!

I'm in the middle of moving out of Pikesville. Nice area with the added perk that you can get in & out of the big box stores & groceries in no time on Saturdays because it's a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. Of course, this means it's a zoo on Sundays :-)

I have spent a lot of time in all of these areas, and would warn you against Pikesville in particular (ugh...some of the rudest people I have ever had the displeasure to live amongst, and I have lived all over), and Owings Mills for the most part (although I prefer it to Pikesville all day long).

If it were me, I'd go up to Cockeysville or Sparks, or, if you can handle the extra drive, Hereford or even Monkton. What about Ellicott City to the west? It's a great town. That should get on your radar.

But I agree that Towson, Timonium, or Hunt Valley could also work.

I cannot recommend the southern suburbs on any level.

oh please spare me. just because a certain type of people come up to shop at one of the biggest walmarts in the state doesn't mean that the area is going downhill. give me a break.

bloods in cockeysville? are you kidding me...lol

the only growing crime problem i see in cockeysivlle is the amount of illegal immigrants moving in. and they don't cause much crime by way of robberies, murder, etc.
