Hi!
My boyfriend is desperately trying to talk me into moving to Baltimore (around Canton). I don't have much experience with cities but I don't know if I'm too enthusiastic about it But if I do end up moving there...

I am licensed to teach elementary school and have been having a very hard time finding a job where I live now (Pennsylvania). I have heard it's easier to get hired in Maryland and especially in Baltimore City, where most schools are terrible. I don't know if I could handle most of the inner city schools in Baltimore, so I was considering Baltimore County. I was going to start substitute teaching there but that means I could be sent to any school in the district. Does anyone have any input on what the schools are like? Are many of them similar to the inner city schools? I'm sure there are good schools in Baltimore County (and City as well) but I would just like to get some ideas on what the district is like overall. I have heard from some people to stay out of both city and county but it's easier to get jobs there than Howard County and Anne Arundel so they might be my only options right now.

If anyone knows anything about finding good teaching jobs any where in the area, that would help too! Thank you!

Most of the county schools are very nice given the relative wealth difference between the two. If you are an elem ed teacher, look into the charter schools in the city, especially in Canton. Most are top notch.

No. Balt county schools are in much better shape than city schools on average.
