Default I Love Pigtown!

I live and own a business in Pigtown. I've never been shot, and yes there is civilization here. Good grief.

Pig Town.
North off Rt 1
Baltimore County.
695 Sulpher Spring Road Exit. Turn onto Washington Blvd North.
You will run into Pig Town.
Been there many times and never been shot either, but would not be wondering the streets alone at night in the area, then again that fits about anywhere in B'more.

Washington Blvd. and the B&O Museum form the northern edge of , basically west of MLK and E of Woodyear. Then a few blocks south of that.

The area is definitely improving. Some blocks are better than others, but overall there is a lot of Pigtown pride, and you're close to a lot of big attractions. I suggest driving around and looking at the area. I'd be careful at night until you're more familiar with the area.

By the way, it's a little disturbing that the MD administrator would tell people not to walk around in any part of Baltimore at night. That's rubbish. Plenty of areas of the city are fine. My wife certainly never had a problem walking the dog at night through Hampden & Wyman Park. I think anyone who isn't aware that the City has very different, distinct neighborhoods -- some of which are much better than others -- should re-evaluate whether they should be moderating discussion of the area.

That is just a general statement. I for one do not advise anyone to walk around any large city at night by themselves. That would be Bawlmore and any part, and I mean any part of Atlanta.

If you're aware of your surroundings and not walking around talking on your cell phone all extra loud making yourself a target, then you're fine. Be aware, walk with a purpose...

My father used to say "Walk like you own the place." And that's what I do, and nobody messes with me. Another thing that helps a lot -- don't look down your nose at the other folks in the community. Treating people like human beings goes a long way.
